It's
hard to believe that over twelve years and a Celtic
tiger have passed since the working class tale of
Jimmy Rabbitte's band The Commitments climbed
out of the gutter to bring Dublin soul.

Under
the hilarious tagline: "They Had Absolutely Nothing.
But They Were Willing To Risk It All," The Commitments
really put Dublin on the map well before hen parties
and ShowBiz types frequented these shores.
Maria
Doyle Kennedy, Bronagh Gallagher, and Robert Arkins
The
director of that classic movie Alan Parker was in
Waterstone's bookstore yesterday to launch
his first ever book called The Sucker's Kiss.
And
a couple of familiar faces from the movie, that are
sure to stir up nostalgia, showed up to show their
support.
From
the movie Robert Arkins (Jimmy Rabbitte), Maria
Doyle Kennedy (Natalie Murphy), and Bronagh
Gallagher (Bernie McGloughlin) all showed Alan
their support.
In
case you are wondering what the members of the band
are doing now, well the majority of them are still
touring as The Commitments, Andrew Strong (Deco
Cuffe) has attempted a solo career, and Bronagh Gallagher
as tried her hand at acting popping up in a little
movie called Pulp Fiction at one stage.
