Hunger Strike film gets green light...
Metropolitan films have given the green light to make a movie about the
infamous hunger strike in 1981.
Sources in the Irish press report that the film which is
yet without a title is to go ahead with a script written by two former IRA
strikers.
Former republican prisoners Lawrence McKeown and Brian Campbell have written
the script for the film company.
McKeown refused food for more then 70 days
and was close to death when the hunger strike ended in October 1981.
The film which is sure to cause controversy is being described as the film
which will tell the full story on how 12 IRA and INLA hunger strikers died.
The film will reportedly be totally set in the H-blocks in Belfast and will
tell of the horror of the North of Ireland's worst time. Metropolitan films
are bankrolling the film according to reports in the Sunday World.
