Gately to be dropped?...

Reports in the Irish press claim that Boyzone star Stephen Gately is to be dropped form his record label within six months. The star who only launched his solo career this year has had far from a success story so far and has not lived up to expectations. Stephen released his single New Beginning in May of this year which only reached No3 in the charts.

Then his album of the same name only made No4 in the album charts despite heavy promotion from his record company Polydor. Last month was even worse for Stephen, who is known as a really nice guy within the business, his last single I Believe peaked at No11 selling just 45,000 copies despite appearing on the soundtrack of the movie Billy Elliot.

Stephen was also refused a role in the new Harry Potter movie according to reports in the Irish Sun newspaper. However, record companies are denying the story saying they are happy with Stephen.
