Popstar Peter comes clean about age...

Popstars wannabe Peter Smith bowed out of the Rivals show last Saturday night when he announced live to millions of shocked people that he had lied about his age.

In what has to be one of the most heart wrenching moments on live TV this year, Peter (from Drimnagh in Dublin) literally stopped the show's host Davina in mid sentence to break the news.

Peter's (25) real date of birth is 16-04-77, the false birth date he gave judges was 16-04-79. He pulled the wool over their eyes with a forged student ID card.

Peter is the second Dubliner to bring controversy to the show, pregnant Hazel Kanswaren also lied about her age.

Pete Waterman, who was in tears following Peter's announcement said, "I don't condone cheating but it took a man to do what he did. He is a good mate and although I despise cheating I think this man is fantastic."
