Jim Sheridan's Stars In America...

It's been a while since there's really been anything to get excited about in the Irish film industry but with Jim Sheridan's latest movie In America coming out there's two little glimmers of hope...

When inner city Dubliner Jim Sheridan puts his time into a movie you can be sure it's going to be a classic.

He is responsible for some of the biggest movies to ever come out of this country such as My Left Foot, The Field, Some Mother's Son, and the recent Bloody Sunday.

In America sees Sheridan returning to directing after a 5 year absence and is loosely based on his own family's experiences of moving to the States in the 80's.

The movie is already getting glowing reviews from US filming critics and even being tipped for Oscar glory.

Two of the movie's stars sisters Emma and Sarah Bolger, just 6 and 11 respectively, are already being tipped for the Best Actress Oscar with highly acclaimed performances.

The movie also stars Samantha Morton, Paddy Considine, and Djimon Hounsou and centres on an Irish family that move to America to get over the death of their son Frankie.

Look out for this one when it hits your local cinema in the coming months.
