Fans of the cult TV show The League of Gentlemen will be ecstatic to hear that a film version of the weird programme is currently shooting in Dublin...

Although official shooting on the movie version of The League of Gentlemen was due to start today ShowBiz Ireland caught up with cast and crew last Friday as they got in some preliminary filming.

According to the clipper-board the movie is going to be called Royston Vasey which is the actual name of the fictitious town in which the show is set.

Apparently (according to one of the guys in the office here) Royston Vasey is actually comedian Roy Chubby Brown's real name? A fact perhaps as strange as the actual show which revolves around a transsexual taxi driver, a gypsy who kidnaps women to be his wives and a psychotic couple who run a local shop.

There was already a buzz in the city recently when producers put out feelers for extras and hundreds of fans turned up willing to work for free just to get the chance to be in Royston Vasey!

When we caught up with the four main characters last Friday (Mark Gratis, Jeremy Dyson, Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton) on set in South Dublin they asked us to stop photographing as first-day-nerves was getting to them.
