Great news for the Irish film industry - a hilarious homemade production, Man About Dog, has left big Hollywood movies standing and romped home top of the box-office...

It's very rare when any movie, nevermind an Irish one, beats off the big-budget Hollywood hyped megladons so it's fantastic news to hear that the Paddy Breathnach directed movie Man About Dog has topped the Irish box-off taking in €200,000 in it's first weekend.

The movie - which boasts a fantastically talented cast including Allen Leech, Ciaran Nolan, Tom Murphy, Sean McGinley and Pat Shortt - showed a clean-set-of-heels to the likes of Collateral, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, and Wimbledon to take top-slot in the highly competitive Irish marketplace.

And if you haven't seen this romper of an Irish road movie which will bring you from Belfast to Clonmel via chainsaws, shotguns, crossbows, dog racing, and a very uncomfortable van seat make sure you do this weekend.

This one comes highly recommended with a style of comedy and editing last best seen in Guy Ritchie's Snatch so if you're not rolling out of your seat you'll be glued to the screen.
