Griffith's
Pretty woman goes bang while Bono steps in...
"The Limo Man" movie which was due to start
filming in Ireland's Ardmore studios on September
28th has gone belly-up after funding was pulled on
the movie. The movie which was due to star Melanie
Griffith in the role of her fellow actress Julia
Roberts and tell the story of Roberts friendship
with the Irish chauffeur Mick Devine. He
was the one who helped her when she broke up with
Kiefer Suderland back in 1991. Sort of an Irish
Notting Hill.
Rumours
are that something (maybe a hike in Griffith's fee)
pushed the limit on the films creditors and last week
the film stopped pre-production.
It
was already six weeks into pre- production at that
stage and a lot of money had now been lost sources
told ShowBizIreland.com. The movie has now
been shelved.
However, while this has been a small setback for the
Irish film industry a new movie hero is on the horizon
for the great Irish movie.
U2 singer Bono is set to appear in a
short movie being shot in Dublin called Sightings
of Bono. The film was due to start shooting in
Dublin on Sunday and Monday after Bono flew back into
Ireland from the South of France on Saturday.
However,
on Sunday and on Monday Bono failed to show up on
the set in the Baggot Street part of Dublin. A Bono
double was used on both days. A tad strange for a
movie about seeing Bono is a variation of Dublin locations?
