Geldof speaks out about Paula...

The Irish rock star and businessman Bob Geldof has spoken out to the press for the first time in five years about the split with his late wife Paula Yates.

Speaking to the press the former Boomtown Rat singer said, "I was sent into a dessert of emptiness. She was a fantastically beautiful wild and incredibly bright girl. It's been five years of a lot of tears. When Paula left me I could not talk about it. I physically couldn't talk about it. "

"I can articulate a lot of things but what I had to articulate was unsayable. The universes of grief, oceans of loss and deserts of emptiness were so profound I just descended into a very primitive state. After Paula left I felt emasculated. You feel no sexual drive what so ever."

Yates died this time last year when she accidentally overdosed. She was only 41 years old.
