Jordan
casts McGregor & Ricci...
Irish movie director Neil
Jordan is to follow in style his casting of Michael
Caine in The Actors by casting Ewan
McGregor and Christina Ricci in a movie
about the seedy-side of the Vatican.
Jordan
recently attracted Michael Caine to Dublin to film
his latest project The Actors along side Dylan Moran
- the movie is currently filming around Dublin Castle
and George's Street Arcade.
He has now casted Scottish actor Ewan McGregor to
act alongside Christina Ricci is his next film about
bringing sex to the Vatican.
Jordan
wrote the screenplay for the new film, which is to
be filmed in Rome this summer. He has described the
film as a version of the Godfather set in the Vatican.
The
new film deals with the infamous Borgia family
which produced no less than two saintly Popes in Italy
during the 14th and 15th century.
The
movie will be called Lucrezia after the daughter
of one of the Pope's who lived from 1480 to 1519.
The three times married Lucrezia lived as colorful
a life as her father. She was even charged with incest
and having wild parties in the Vatican.
Also due back in Ireland next month is Dublin's pride
and joy Gabriel Byrne who is back home during
May to star in a new movie called The Letters.
Then
after a summer in New York, where he lives most of
the year to be near his two children, Byrne will be
back again for a second film in September which is
making based on a book he has recently brought the
rights to.
For
the moment he is in Australia filming The Ghost
Ship.
