Irish
Popstars "Six" still only five...
The
latest Irish Pop sensation Six have finally
been chosen from the RTE TV show Popstars...
but there are still only five!!
After
eight weeks and 5,000 auditions in four centers around
the country, the six Popstars were finally chosen
and shown the Irish press on Sunday night.
However,
in the final episode it emerged that one of the Popstars,
Nadine Coyle, referred to in episode 1 by
Louis Walsh , as "a little Dana"
was in fact underage for the pop act.
Six...
ahem, well five of them anyways
The
age limit of eighteen years old is an integral part
of the Popstars format and is strictly adhered to.
This is in order to ensure that those chosen are mature
enough to take the pressure and commitments that go
with being in a pop act.
The
age restriction was featured in all promotional material
around the auditions and every release form/contract
that the auditioned signed.
It
emerged that Nadine is in fact sixteen and a half
years of age (DOB 15.06.85) and is therefore ineligible
to be part of the Popstars act.
Nadine
was then told she had to leave the band.
Louis
said "Nadine has great potential, however she
knew, as did all the other 4,999 that auditioned for
Popstars that the age limit was 18 and there would
be no exceptions to this rule".
On
January 20th a new Popstar to replace Nadine will
be announced.
Already
rumours are rife in Dublin that the sixth member will
be female and called... Shelly??
