Is
Big Brother Missing an Irish Angle?
Has
everyone failed to notice the lack of Irish, Gay,
or Gay-Irish contestants in this year's Big Brother?
Well last night we got the first Celtic hint from
the housemates...
What
are Channel 4 thinking? The most outstandingly
successful contestants over the past three episodes
have either been Irish, Gay or Gay-Irish. Perhaps
they are simply changing the formula?
In
the first BB episode there was 2nd place runner-up
and Gay Nun, Anna Nolan. Hailing from Dublin
she gave winner Craig a run for his money.
Next
there was the most unforgettable winner of BB, the
Gay Air Steward, Brian Dowling. Rathangan's
most famous son has been the most successful contestants
post BB landing a presenter's job on the popular SM:TV.
Then
there was the runner-up of celebrity BB Keith Duffy.
The ex-Boyzone Dubliner proved once again that
Irish contestants are very popular with the UK's voting
public.
There's
no doubt that Irish contestants make good reality
TV, so where's this year's boy in Green? Well on Monday
night we got the first hint from this year's Big Brother
contestants...
Newcastle
fireman Jonny exclaimed whilst having a few
drinks that his grandparents come from Cork and he
hopes to be "going there someday". "What
a beautiful place" he continued, "the Irish
are excellent".
23
year old Birmingham Law Student PJ butted in
to get one up on fellow contestant Jonny proclaiming
that both his grandparents hail from Dublin and Cork
respectively.
It
would seem that we have two contestants so far claiming
Irish heritage and probably more to come.
