Mumba lands Time Machine...

Irish pop princess Samantha Mumba has secured her first film role. The 18 year old Dubliner got past her last screen test on Monday and has secured the role in Stephen Spielberg's new movie which will be his version of the HG Wells classic The Time Machine. Samantha will not be the only Irish based star in the film as Jeremy Irons who also lives in Ireland will play as her co-star in the film.

The singer will play a child-like-creature in the big budget production while Irons stars as the time traveling Professor and the star of the film.

Filming on the movie will start this summer and will last up to six months.

Speaking about the project Samantha's manager Louis Walsh said "Stephen Spielberg has met her and was very impressed. The music for her is still going to be a priority but this is going to be massive."

The young Dubliner is already a star in the US where she topped the charts last year with her debut single Gotta Tell You. She has also screen tested for a role in the upcoming Blade 2 a follow up to the Wesley Snipes hit movie.
