Mumba's
Gotta to be rollin' in it...
Samantha
Mumba is set to make a staggering £6m in the next
12 months by conquering America. The 18-year old singer
stands to make a fortune from her movie roles, sell
out concerts and album sales.
Samantha
has become a major star in the States and lucrative
movie role offers have been flooding in since she
appeared in Stephen Spielberg's Time Machine.
A
string of American arena concerts in the winter and
the continued success of her debut album will make
her enough money to live a life of luxury.
Last night a source close to the star said: "If Samantha
plays her cards right she will be incredibly well
off. There are multi-million dollar movie role offers
already on the table and her album is still selling
mountains. There is also a strong possibility that
she will tour at the end of the year in the States.
If that all comes together she's looking at big money
- around $10m."
Samantha
has become a big rival to American pop beauties including
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
Last year Britney was estimated to have earned $17m
and Christina $14m.
Now Samantha is set to make the same big money. The
singer has been living in LA for the past six months
as her career continues to soar in the States. Her
album, Gotta Tell You, has stayed consistently
in the Billboard top 50 for over six months.
She is currently in Oakland, California, in a middle
of a 20-date sell out tour with boy band sensations
N'Sync. Last Christmas Samantha admitted that
she had made virtually no money despite topping the
charts in the UK and Ireland.
"I'm not rolling in the money by any stretch of the
imagination," she said. "People think that as soon
as you land a record deal you automatically become
a millionaire - but it just doesn't work like that."
But all that is set to change. She will spend the
rest of 2001 in America, returning home to Dublin
for only a few short breaks. Her manager Louis
Walsh said that the teen-star would be as big
as Mariah Carey in time. "She has what it takes
and the Americans are crazy about her. I was in LA
with her a couple of weeks ago and everyone was going
Samantha Mumba mad. People kept telling me she would
be as big as Mariah Carey or Janet Jackson
and she will, The money is good but I don't think
people know how much pressure she is under - she only
gets to sleep for about five hours most nights. She
rarely comes home and there's always another interview
to do or appearance to make."
