Irish pop stunner SAMANTHA MUMBA has gone to Number 9 in the US billboard
charts. Over the weekend the stars single Gotta Tell You hit the spot the
highest she’s reached so far in the US.
The teenager from Dublin is still in shock over the success of her first US
single.
"I’m really amazed because they don’t know what to make of me there. I
expected to be promoting there for months and months before anything would
happen."
Sam said then that being black and being Irish has confused many in the
American media.
"It’s a complete contradiction for a lot of American’s but that’s just fine.
They can’t pigeonhole me which is great because I don’t want to be another
Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera. At the moment I’m a bit of a novelty."
Samantha, whose second single Body to Body soared to number 5 in the charts
this week is getting ready to launch her album.
The album was released in Ireland last Friday and was released in the UK on
Monday. However, it will be next month before it’s launched in the US."Unfortunately I’m up against a lot of big albums out this week especially
U2’s new album. But I think people will like is." Sam told the Irish Star
newspaper.
