Mumba
tops Mel Gibson in the US...
Sensational Irish pop diva Samantha
Mumba is celebrating this week after her new
movie, The Time Machine, scooped the top place
in the US box office charts.
The film took in an amazing $22.5 million in it's
first three days. Stopping the latest Mel Gibson
movie, We Were Soliders, from taking top slot.
The movie, which also stars her brother Omero
and Guy Pearce was given mixed reviews in the
US but has surpassed the expectations of the studio
bosses.
One
US critic wrote that Samantha's character, Mara,
has "a spectacular figure well suited to the skimpy
fashions of her tribe".
Due for release in Ireland in May, the Stephen
Spielberg handled movie is sure to be a hit here.
Adapted from the original novel by H.G. Wells,
the film is co-directed by his great-grandson Simon
Wells.
A
film industry source told ShowBizIreland.com,
"Samantha is huge in the UK and Ireland. The public
will be dying to see both her and Omero's film debut."
Currently in the US, Samantha has been working hard
to promote the film.
It
was also reported recently that she has purchased
a plush pad in Beverly Hills, to help with her hectic
lifestyle. The industry source quipped: "Having Guy
Pearce in the film is a bonus. All eyes will be on
Samantha".
