Gangs
of NY over-running...
Hollywood sources have revealed that filming is so
far behind schedule on Liam
Neeson's new film the Gangs of New York
that both himself and Leonardo DiCaprio aswell
as Daniel Day-Lewis and Brendan Gleeson
have been working on weekends to make up on time lost.
To make matter worse for the producers and director
the movie's female lead Cameron Diaz shot a
scene while suffering from flu.
The
reason that the Irish gangster film has been delayed
due to bad weather, problems handling hundreds of
extras and Italian work-day restrictions which have
all played havoc with the filming in Rome.
These delay's however will NOT mean that Neeson will
miss the start of his war on Aids in Africa
auction on March 6th in New York. The lightsabre he
used in the Star Wars prequel The Phantom
Menace is up for auction on the night as are a
lot of items given by his star friends.
The
Irish star is spearheading a charity auction of movie
memorabilia using his personal contacts in Hollywood
to get unique items for which film buffs are expected
to pay a small fortune, even though he has misplaced
his copy of the Schindler's List script he had intended
to auction.
Among
them is the weapon he used as the Jedi Knight Qui-Gon
Jinn in the fantasy movie, the first time director
George Lucas has ever allowed one of the gadgets
to be sold.
A
spokesperson for UNICEF in Dublin told ShowBizIreland.com
last night, "There is no way Liam will miss the
auction in Sotheby's in New York next Tuesday.
He is the patron of the charity and will be at the
auction and then he will be hosting a gala dinner
after."
