Colin
Farrell is set to land a 5.5 million pay cheque
for his next film SWAT.
The 26-year-old Dubliner, who is currently in cinemas
along side Tom Cruise in thriller Minority
Report, is to play Officer Jim Street in
Columbia Pictures' film SWAT, according to entertainment
trade newspaper Variety.
Based
on a 1970s US TV series, SWAT stars Samuel L Jackson
as the leader of a Los Angeles Police Department SWAT
team who are transporting an arrested drug kingpin
out of the city and into federal custody.
Their
plans hit problems, however, when the gangster offers
70 million to anyone who can free him.
Farrell,
who got his acting start on the BBC's Ballykissangel,
will play Jim Street, a member of the SWAT crew.
The
reported 5.5 million fee for SWAT is Farrell's highest
to date and marks something of a coup for the actor
who only made his screen breakthrough a couple of
years ago in the films Tigerland and Ordinary
Decent Criminal.
