Colin takes on Batman & Superman...

Ireland's favourite hunk Colin Farrell has been heavily backed by the US media to play Batman on his next outing on the Silver screen.

The Dublin actor is said to be up for the role of the crusader in a new movie which has Batman take on Superman.

However, even though the star is top of the list for the role he still has to take on some stiff competition from the likes of Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Jude Law.

Wolfgang Peterson is to direct the movie about and has said of it, "You had the two of them together in the comics but never together on the big screen. It sets up great material for drama. I can not tell you what brings them together in the movie but I can tell you that they are at each others throats for most of the movie but then in the end get together as they are both crime fighters. Even though Superman represents good and truth and Batman more the obsessive and vengeful side."

Both the hero's enemies The Joker and Lex Luther will be in the movie but Batman's sidekick Robin is out.
