Ireland done itself proud in terms of the professionalism and commitment made by the organisers the volunteers of the Special Olympics.

Not only were the games themselves a complete success but the entertainment laid on for the athletes would be very hard to match ever again.

The opening ceremony saw some of the biggest names in ShowBiz turning up to show support including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nelson Mandella, U2, Pierce Brosnan, Ashley Judd, The Corrs, Ronan Keating, Roy Keane, Muhammad Ali, Heather Locklear, and Samantha Mumba.

Not to be outdone the closing ceremony was just as big an affair with Westlife and Colin Farrell taking over the proceedings.

Also on the bill were Euro Stars Micky Joe Harte and Simon Casey, Blue and Liberty X.

ShowBiz Ireland also caught up with Hollywood actress Jamie Lee Curtis who was there with her stunning daughter Anne.

The ceremony was officially closed by Irish president Mary MacAleese and the Special Olympic flag was passed over to Japan where the winter games 2005 will be held.
