007's Special Ashford Secret...

Irish actor and James Bond star Pierce Brosnan last night flew back to his home in Malibu from the Pacific Island of Boro Boro while ShowBizIreland.com investigated the actor’s love for Ashford Castle in County Mayo. ShowBizIreland.com has learned that the luxury five star castle (where the star plans to marry his girlfriend Keely Shay Smith) was the special place that he and his late wife Cassandra Harris spent many holidays in the early eighties.

Brosnan loved the castle so much that he even persuaded Hollywood directors to film one episode of his hit TV show Remington Steel there. We can reveal one exclusive picture of the 007 star posing with staff in the hotel during his visit while filming the show.

Speaking to ShowBizIreland.com last night Brosnan’s LA publicist confirmed that the actor would marry this summer in Ashford Castle. "We still have plans for Pierce and Keely to marry in Ashford Castle this summer. That has always been the plan and Pierce still plans to marry their this summer."

Brosnan will not however be the first Hollywood star to make his mark in the tiny village of Cong and the home of Ashford Castle. Brosnan will follow in the footsteps of John Wayne and John Ford who made the castle and village world famous over fifty years ago when the made the Oscar winning film The Quiet Man there.

ShowBizIreland.com has also learned that Brosnan’s Production company Irish Dreamtime has been planning a new film to following the success of his last hit The Thomas Crown Affair. "Pierce is about to make a new film with his own production company Irish Dreamtime. He will make the film with Mike Medavoy and his Phoenix production company. We will be able to give more details later in the week about the project" said his publicist.
