Brosnan
wants to help the Children...
Currently filming Evelyn in Ireland, Pierce
Brosnan has announced his appointment to become
a Special Patron of UNICEF Ireland.
The
recent invitation was extended to him and Pierce readily
agreed to assist UNICEF in its work for children in
162 countries worldwide.
Pierce commented "I am delighted to be involved
with UNICEF, the worlds largest children organisation.
It is something I have wanted to do for a long time,
to give something back. The area that I am especially
interested in is to highlight the tragic impact of
war on children, who are always the innocent casualties
of conflicts around the world."
He
went on, "In the last 10 years, more than 2 million
children have died as a result of wars, more than
6 million children have been injured or permanently
disabled. My role will be to help UNICEF Ireland in
whatever way I can, to highlight this and to ensure
that UNICEF continues to be able to provide emergency
relief and assistance to these children" he added.

Quinn, Executive Director of UNICEF Ireland commented
on the announcement "We are thrilled that Pierce
has accepted our invitation to become a Special Patron.
He joins Liam Neeson, who has also shown enormous
compassion for children in difficult circumstances
around the world and support for UNICEF’s work on
their behalf. Pierces association with UNICEF Ireland
will help us draw attention to and provide assistance
for the most vulnerable of children in the world".
