Brosnan Hits Back at Christian Bros...

Bond star Pierce Brosnan has spoken out about his horrific childhood with the Christian Brothers while promoting his Irish made movie Evelyn in Canada.

Navan man Pierce, 49, spoke about his Catholic upbringing in Ireland recently at the Toronto Film Festival. He said to the press:

"You'd be standing up saying the Our Father and trying to remember it, you'd be beaten, punched, kicked, and slapped, just trying to get it right."

He went on, "It knocks your confidence. That I should be an actor always amazes me, getting up in front of so many people. There was a great shattering of confidence at that age and then as a boy of 10 heading off to the great, glorious comprehensive schools of London makes you a fighter."

And according to Pierce this is where he got his insight into the character he plays in his new movie Evelyn, which he also produced.

Brosnan clearly emphasizes with his character who is a single father fighting the Catholic Church, in the 1950's, to keep his children after the death of his wife (Julianna Margulies).
