pics from Brosnan's Evelyn set...
Bond star Pierce
Brosnan started filming his latest movie Evelyn
in Dublin yesterday. ShowBizIreland.com was
on set for the opening scenes of his latest blockbuster
movie.
The Navan born actor spent the day filming with his
fellow Irish actor Stephen Rae and the Irish
American actor Aiden Quinn.
Filming
was done on the banks of the canal in Dublin near
the Pepper Canister Church just off Merrion Square.
This area is also known as one of Dublin's busiest
red light districts.
Speaking
exclusively to ShowBizIreland.com on the set
Brosnan said filming was going to plan on the movie
which is an Irish based drama called Evelyn. "Everything
is going grand for the moment," he said before joining
his wife Keely Shaye Smith and two sons
Paris and Dylan and traveling back to the
Merrion Hotel where the star and his family are staying
for their two-month stay in Ireland.
The
film has long been a pet project for him and is based
on the true story of Desmond Doyle - being
played by Brosnan. Doyle fought the Irish government
and the Catholic Church to overturn an outdated custody
law and recover his four children after his wife ran
off and he lost his job.
As
a child Brosnan spent some time in the care of the
Christian Brothers order when his single mother went
to England to find work. She reclaimed him once she
was settled.
Brosnan,
who will also produce the film, which will have to
be finished in time for the next Bond saga, which
will be the 20th 007 adventures and the 40th anniversary
of the series. .
Irish
American Quinn, star of Legends of the fall, and Julianne
Margulies, who made her name as George Clooney's
nurse girlfriend in ER also flew in to Ireland recently
for their roles in the new movie. They are both staying
at the Four Seasons hotel in Ballsbridge.
The
film is being made by Brosnan's own production company
Irish Dreamtime - the company who also made
The Thomas Crown Affair remake.
