Brosnan's
Wedding makes him cringe...
Irish actor and James Bond star Pierce
Brosnan has admitted that his Irish wedding
of last year, which he sold to Hello! magazine, has
made him cringe as he looks back.
"There's a part of me that goes, Oh God this is cringe-making.
But, if we hadn't done the deal we would have had
to pay for the lot of it ourselves. Doing something
like this makes it very comfortable monetary wise
and it gives you control. Everybody wins. What's the
downside - we were just worried about looking foolish
and we probably did."
The star also admitted that acting is good but it
also has its down sides. "Its good money and it's
great fun. You get great tables in restaurants. They
send you gifts, beautiful clothes and cars."
He
went on, "it's all a big hollow because it does not
really nourish you. It's a great game that's all.
As time goes on and I hang up the Bond mantle. It
will pass."
The actor has also admitted that if he had not become
an actor he would have been a social worker. "If I
wasn't an actor I probable would have been a social
worker. Acting is great but sometimes it can feel
rather redundant."
However,
the star also admitted that he does like the money.
"I know what it's like to be famous. It's good money
and it's great fun. When I was younger doing Remington
Steele it was wonderful watching it all grow and
flourish. But then I watched it fade too. There was
a bit of regret there. I could feel it and it will
happen again. I have enough fame now. I'm 48 years
old and I'm restless. I want control over my life
with the understanding also that I want to be hired."
Brosnan
is currently making the next Bond movie in
the UK.
