Brosnan
to Retire from Bond Role...
Hold on to your vodka-martini's, breaking news from
the US state that Pierce Brosnan may be hanging
up his license to kill and leaving Her Majesty's Secret
Service as 007...
According
to reports in the USA Irish actor Pierce Brosnan may
not be optioned for his fifth Bond role by
producers EON Productions as they are seeking
to target a younger audience.
The
Chicago Times states that Brosnan at 50 years
old is too old to carryon the role and the franchise
successfully even though his last 007 role with Halle
Berry, Die Another Day, earned over 300
million at the box office.
A
spokesperson for Eon Productions confirmed that Pierce
may retire: "We are always looking to target younger
audiences. We want fans who will still be watching
in 40 years."
We
have long debated the "next Bond" argument
on ShowBiz Ireland's forums but even though
many good actors have been put forward there has remained
an overwhelming point-of-view that Brosnan should
stay in the role.
The
names of the following actors are being thrown around
as the next Bond: Jude Law, Christian Bale, Orlando
Bloom, and Gerard Butler but Colin Farrell
and Hugh Jackman seem to be the most popular
choices.
Should
Brosnan
retire and if so who would you like to take over the
Bond role? Discuss on ShowBiz Ireland's
Pierce Brosnan Forum...
