Brosnan is a true Father Figure...

James Bond super star Pierce Brosnan has vowed that he will always be there for his children unlike his estranged Irish father Tom.

The 49 year old Navan man revealed to the press that he sees his stepfather Bill Carmichael as his real father figure.

Brosnan said, "I can discard what my father did because he did nothing. Let's not even go back to what he did or didn't do. I have a great father - stepfather - in William."

Pierce was raised from the age of four by his mother May's parents after she moved to London to work as a nurse due to the breakup of her marriage. Sadly, his grandparents died two years later, young Pierce stayed with relatives until he eventually moved to London to be with his mother.

Soon after, May fell in love with and married Bill - the man who took Pierce to see his first Bond movie, Goldfinger.

Brosnan was reunited with his real father Tom some 30 years later but he died two years after their brief meeting.

As a result of his hard upbringing Brosnan wants his children to always feel loved:

"I want my children to have love in their life when they are young. I want them to know the true meaning of love," he said.
