U2's
Stuck in a Kitten Moment...
News
broke last night that the UK Girl group Atomic
Kitten are set to score their biggest hit and
could notch up their first number one and beat the
Irish rockers U2. The chart success of the
band comes just a week after Kerry Katona from
the girl band decided to leave the band early after
it emerged she was pregnant by her fiancé,
Westlife's Bryan McFadden.
Success
of the track, Whole Again, which is just outselling
U2's new single, has caught their record label and
retailers by surprise with extra copies having to
be rushed out to shops. "We
weren't expecting it to do this well but it's great,"
said a spokesman.
The single sold nearly 1,000 more copies than U2's
Stuck In A Moment (You Can't Get Out Of) during
its first day in the shops on Monday. In a recent
interview Bono intimated that their latest
release may be the best song they have ever released
and nearly got cut from the album only for the insistence
of Brian Eno.
Chart
expert Gennaro Castaldo of HMV told
news wire services "It's looking quite good for
being in the frame for a number one when the charts
are announced on Sunday. It's done amazingly well
for the fifth single. The publicity surrounding Kerry's
departure from the band can't have done any harm."
