pictures of Irish supergroup U2's first major
European concert in four years live from London’s
Astoria Theatre. The band’s first concert was
for just under 1,500 lucky fans which included a host
of the worlds biggest stars. The band hit the stage
at 9.30pm to a wild crowd of die hard fans.

Among
the VIP guests at the show were supermodel Helena
Christenson, Elvis Costello, The All Saints, Chris
Evans and Billie Piper, who were hugging on the
balcony beside Irish star Bob Geldof, Blur, Eddie
Jordan, Patrick Kielty, Irish actor Liam Cunningham,
Frank Skinner, Billy Bragg and the Northern Irish
band Ash.

Salman Rushdie was also among the guests and
Bono dedicated the song to him “The Ground Beneath
her feet” which was written for Bono’s Movie The
Million Doller Hotel by Rushdie.

Bono
also dedicated the song “Stuck in a Moment”
to his late friend Michael Hutchance. He also
dedicated a version of Hutchance's song Devil Inside
to the singer... Speaking
to the crowd Bono said “We’ve made a lot of friends
in this town. This is for one we lost.”

play list for the band started with the of song "end
of the world" which was followed with the
last hit "Beautiful Day."
Among the other hits were Elevation, Desire, New
York, Myserious Ways, one, All I want is you and
Bad.
The
crowd went wild as the band finished just before 11pm
with the song “Forty.”
