Dublin Castle obtained some vital cool yesterday when a wrap-around-shades clad Bono showed up at the international launch of the Beckett Centenary Festival...

Far-from-it, yesterday the U2 frontman was enticed down to Dublin Castle to officially open the festival which marks the birth of world renowned Irish writer Samuel Beckett.

At the launch Bono was presented with a signed edition of Beckett's book "Murphy" by Minister John O'Donoghue - those in-the-know will remember that Bono gave Beckett a copy of U2's "The Unforgettable Fire" back in 1985...

Bono also performed a Beckett pastiche at the event and posed for photos with the nephew of Samuel Beckett, Edward Beckett.
