Help
get "No2 4 U2" @ Slane...
Irish supergroup U2 have asked the Irish Government
permission to play a second Slane concert after
all 80,000 tickets sold out for their first show in
45 minutes amongst scenes of pandemonium at most ticket
outlets. Bono, the lead singer with the band
went on Irish TV and asked the Government and the
people of Slane to let them play a second show.
There were violent scenes on Dublin’s Grafton street
on Saturday morning after 700 fans, some of which
had been waiting for tickets since Thursday, were
left empty-handed.
According
to a spokesperson for MCD
concert promoters in Dublin, the company behind the
show, the band could have sold over 250,000 tickets.
"There
were thousands of people on Grafton Street and we
would love to have sold them all tickets to see U2
in Slane but the law says that only one concert can
go on there each year. There were over 250,000 people
looking for tickets and now it looks like we will
have to get a second show for Slane."
"To do this we need the Irish Prime Minister Bertie
Ahern and the Minister for the Environment to
change the law for Slane and the people of Slane to
allow it to go ahead. "
